Bizzell, Fire Chief SUBJECT: Rural Fire Protection Expenditures As per our conversation regarding rural fire protection services provided by this department, I have prepared this report to re- flect expenditures involved in providing this service. A compar- ison is based on this year's budget, which ends September 30, 1987. An analysis was made as to the number of alarms inside the city compared to those outside the city. This comparison was calculated over this fiscal year which began October 1, 1986 and ends September 30, 1987. The following table indicates the alarm classification and the percentage for the year: Alarms % Alarms Alarms Out % Alarm Out Total Year In City In City of City of City 4/I/86 to 1,215 92% 105 8% 1,320 3/31/87 The past year we responded to 1,215 alarms, with 105 occuring out- side our city limits. The result is an average of 8% of the alarms Mayor occuring outside the city limits. The city receives $4,124.80 annually from the county for rural fire protection. The annual figure does not reflect debt service on capital expenditures or an annual payment for a fire truck. As you can see, expenditures for rural alarms is more than the county currently provides. It may also be noted that each year our operating cost reflect an increase. In 1982 -83, the county increased it's yearly contribution from $2,062.40 to $4,124.80 per year, and there has not been an increase since that time. ATTEST; Joanne Land, City Secretary RESOLUTION NO.
