R-88-1212 - 12/22/1988WHEREAS, the City Council of Round Rock, pursuant to Chapter 351, Section 351.002, Local Government Code, V.A.T.S., has imposed a tax on hotels and motels within its incorporated limits, and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Council to expend the hotel /motel tax revenues in a manner directly enhancing and promoting tourism and the convention and hotel industry, and WHEREAS, the City Council, in accordance with the fiscal 1988 Tourism Budget adopted in Ordinance No. 2329, Code of Ordinances, City of Round Rock, desires to make a certain disbursement from the unallocated fund balance of said Tourism Budget, Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That certain tourism funds derived from the hotel /motel tax revenues be disbursed as follows: 22 ��//1� 1. Consider a resolution authorizing the expenditure of Hotel /Motel Tax money to the American Bicycle Association. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Bob Bennett STAFF RECOMMENDATION: ECONOMIC IMPACT: The American Bicycle Association has requested $3,000 from the Hotel /Motel fund in order to help support the National BMX Championship here in Round Rock. The championship will require 800 motel rooms and will last one weekend in May. We expect 6,000 visitors for the event.
