Dear Mr. Kautz:
Attached is a proposed contract for collection of taxes for the
1989 -90 year. The wording is exactly the same as the previous
contract; however, the amount is lower. As you already know, we made
some changes during the past year which automated some of the opera-
tions. Posting of payments can now be handled much more quickly and
it is no longer necessary to spend hours pulling receipts. Because of
these changes we do not feel it will be necessary to fill two
positions which are now vacant. It may be necessary to hire some
temporary help during the heavy collection period, so if you know
someone with good math and public relations skills who might be
interested in working during that time, please let Forrest know.
These changes reduced the tax office budget to $142,441. Based on the
wording in the current contract, the City of Round Rock would pay a
fee based on 28.3% of this figure or a total of $40,310 for the year.
Sipcerely,
/
