Nuse, P.E. Director of Public Works City of Round Rock 221 E. Main Street Round Rock, Texas 78664 Re: Letter of Authorization for Computer- Generated Water System Analysis Extended Period Simulation Dear Mr, Nuse: We are pleased to submit for your review and approval, this Letter of Authorization to proceed with the preparation of an Extended Period Simulation of Round Rock's complete water distribution system. The analysis will be based on a computer - generated water system simulation using the Kentucky Pipe Hydraulic Network Analysis Program ( "KYPIPE ") and the Data Entry and Editing Program ( "PIPEDATA "). The analysis will produce an Extended Period Simulation which will model the system for a 24 -hour period, with results printed for each 1 -hour interval. The Extended Period Simulation is critical in evaluation of the system's pumping and storage facilities, particularly in regards to sizing a proposed downtown elevated tank to upgrade Service Level lA to 1B. The computer analysis of the water system will provide the basis for a subsequent field verification and calibration of the system at a later date, providing the City with the most accurate distribution system simulation available. The total charge for the Extended Period Simulation will be $10,000. We can complete the simulation within 60 calendar days. If this compensation amount meets with your approval, please have Mayor Robinson sign this letter in the space provided below authorizing this expenditure. Please return one copy to our office and retain one copy for your file. The above time schedule for completion and work on the project will commence upon receipt of the signed Letter of Authorization. [!g Haynie & Kallman, Inc. AUTHORIZED BY THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: The Honorable Mike Robinson, Mayor DATE: September 11, 1989 SUBJECT: Council Agenda, September 14, 1989 ITEM: 11L. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with Haynie & Hallman, Inc. for engineering services regarding update of the water system model. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Jim Nuse STAFF RECOMMENDATION: This update of the water system model is an important tool in providing detailed water system response to dynamic water demands. The current model uses static condition. Staff recommends that this modeling be provided to help evaluate the possible combination of service levels 1A and 1B. ECONOMIC IMPACT: If the service leves are combined, $45- $50,000 per year can be saved. In any event, this model will assist in evaluating timing for water system construction improvements.
