R-89-1387 - 12/14/1989WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for the purchase of a fire truck for the Fire Department, and WHEREAS, Mile -Hi T Fire Equipment Inc. has submitted the lowest and best bid, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of Mile -Hi T Fire Equipment Inc. and to authorize the purchase of said fire truck, Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the bid of Mile -Hi T Fire Equipment Inc. is hereby accepted as the lowest and best bid and the purchase of a fire truck for the Fire Department is hereby authorized. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract for a fire truck for the Fire Department. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Lynn Bizzell STAFF RECOMMENDATION: On September 12, 1989, the City mailed bid specifications to eleven (11) fire truck manufacturers throughout the United States. On October 31, 1989, at 10:00am, these bids were opened. A total of three (3) bids were received: Sutphen Corporation 700 Columbus Marysville Rd. Amlin, Ohio 43002 Seagrave Mile -Hi T Fire Equipment, Inc. 901 E. 68th Ave. Denver, Colorado 80229 Quality Manufacturing 1420 Nimitz Ave. Talladega, Alabama 35160 NO BID $192,490.00 $198,351.00 Upon reviewing the returned specifications, the staff would like to recommend the low bid of Mile -Hi T Fire Equipment, Inc. in the amount of $192,410.00. The City currently has Seagrave Fire Apparatus and these units have worked very well. The City Shop is also capable of keeping some parts in stock due to having more than one Seagrave unit. This enables us to get the Fire Apparatus repaired as quick as possible. Therefore, there is less time the equipment is out of service when repairs are needed.
