Chief REF: BIDS ON MOBILE AND PORTABLE RADIOS After a careful study of the bids submitted for the purchase of radio equip- ment, the decision to purchase Bid #2, submitted by Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc., of Austin. RADIO COMMUNICATION - $14,626.25 Mobiles - $2,588.00 Portables - $12,038.25 6. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS -$ 8,781.00 (Portables Only) -2- The low bid submitted by Henke's, Inc., did not meet specifications on the mobile units. They bid on a 14 Channel Unit and specification called for a 16 Channel Unit. The portable unit is a radius line of Motorola and has to be shipped back to the factory for any repairs. RK /jc Bid Ill submitted by Motorola Communications submitted a bid on a HT50 Portable radio. This Unit is a light weight unit. We feel the Unit HT50 is not durable and reliable enough for the police officer in the field. Bid #2 submitted by Motorola Communications & Electronics, Inc., was chosen. The Mobile Unit met all specifications. The Portable HT600 Unit is alot more durable and reliable than the HT50. Our local Fire Dept., and other law enforcement agencies in this area use the HT600. Also, the HT600 can be re- programmed merely by using a cloning cable. This alone, will save down time and money when adding or changing frequencies.
