RESOLVED this 12th day of April, 1990. MIKE ROBINSON, Mayor City of Round Rock, Texas DATE: April 10, 1990 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting, April 12, 1990 ITEM: 9D. Consider a resolution'to waive fines for books during the week of April 23, 1990. returned library STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Dale Ricklefs STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Over the past 10 years approximately 3,000 volumes have been checked out and not returned. The library is interested in obtaining as many of these volumes as possible. Libraries nationwide hold an amnesty period whereby patrons are encouraged to return books and all related fines and fees are deleted from the patrons' records. The amnesty program is offered only every 10 -20 years. After the amnesty program, more assertive methods of collecting on delinquent accounts will proceed. However, we prefer to get the books back rather than pursue other courses of action.
