(SwL) is pleased to submit this proposal to conduct a geological survey for the above referenced property. The objective of this survey is to identify the surface geologic units present on the site and to identify the location and extent of any significant recharge areas on or immediately downstream of the site. Our proposed scope of work is intended to satisfy the geologic portion of the Water Pollution Abatement Plan for regulated developments in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone as discussed in Chapter 313.4 of the Texas Water Commission (TWC) Regulations. The survey is to be performed on a 2,000 -acre tract located adjacent to IH - 35 in Round Rock, Texas. SCOPE OF WORK SwL will conduct the survey to gather the geologic information required by the TWC. The following outlines our plan for the survey.: 1) Mapping of surface geologic units present on the property. HOUSTON • DALLAS • AUSTIN • BEAUMONT • CONROE • GALVESTON COUNTY • RIO GRANDE VALLEY • ALEXANDRIA SAN ANTONIO • FORT WORTH • LEESVILLE • MIDLAND • MONROE • SHREVEPORT • TEXARKANA • SHERMAN SOUTHWESTERN LABORATORIES Mr. Jim Nuse August 28, 1990 Page 2 2) Mapping of recharge features such as faults, sinkholes, and fracture zones that may provide an avenue for surface waters to enter the subsurface. These features will also be mapped within all drainageways that carry surface water runoff across the recharge zone for a distance of one mile downstream from the property. 3) Prepare a report addressing the significance of specific geologic features on the property with respect to the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. PROJECT SCHEDULE SwL is prepared to commence work on this project immediately following notification to proceed. Issuance of the geological survey report is anticipated one month after notice to proceed. LIMITATIONS This survey will be conducted to provide geologic information as required by the TWC for regulated developments within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. This survey is not intended to serve as an environmental site assessment and will not address whether the site or adjacent properties contain hazardous or toxic materials. If this information is desired, SwL would be pleased to prepare a proposal for such services. BASIS Of BILLING Billing will be based on a lump sum budget of $5,290.00. This budget is based on the anticipated scope of work outlined in this proposal. We will not exceed the above referenced cost without prior approval. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement for geotechnical services for an Edwards Aquifer Water Pollution Abatement Plan. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City engage Geotechnical Services to prepare a report to the Water Commission regarding our Northeran Industrial area. This report would be the main portion of the Water Pollution Abatement Plan which is required prior to construction. Staff feels that having this plan in place would greatly facilitate the timing of approval of the Water Pollution Abatement Plan when an industry decides on a particular tract.
