ES ENGINEERING - SCIENCE, INC. Hand delivered Al Wille, P.E. City of Round Rock Department of Public Works 221 East Main Street Round Rock, Texas 78664 Dear Mr. Wille: A PARSONS COMPANY September 25, 1990 Engineering - Science is pleased to submit this proposal for engineering services to design the improvements necessary to bring water well 10 into service. It is our understanding that waters from the well contain small concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (HAS) and will require treatment prior to distribution. Methods of treatment that have been discussed include overchlorination and aeration. The selection of which treatment method to use depends on the H2S concentration, which we will determine as part of our proposed scope of work. The work that we believe is necessary for this project can be divided into three phases: preliminary engineering, design, and construction. The preliminary engineering phase will consist of sampling and testing the water from well 10 to determine H2S concentrations and, based on the testing results, selecting the best available method of treatment. The design phase consists of civil, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical design of the facilities required by the treatment process. The construction phase covers all work necessary in advertising the project, selecting a contractor, and inspecting the work once construction has started. Our proposed scope is more fully described in the enclosed cost estimate, table 1. Payment for our work will be determined on an time and expense basis in accordance with the rate schedule shown in table 2. We proposed a budget ceiling of $17,500 for the project. Invoiced charges will not exceed this limit without prior approval by the City. Again, thank you for the opportunity to submit this proposal. City of Round Rock Department of Public Works 221 East Main Street Round Rock, Texas 78664 Dear Mr. Wilk: A PARSONS COMPANY September 25, 1990 i1cerely, Rick Myri Project Manager 7800 SHOAL CREEK BLVD. SUITE 222 WEST AUSTIN, TX 78757 Tel. (512) 487.6200 Fax: (512) 467 -7044 Engineering - Science is pleased to submit this proposal for engineering services to design the improvements necessary to bring water well 10 into service. It is our understanding that waters from the well contain small concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and will require treatment prior to distribution. The preliminary engineering phase will consist of sampling and testing the water from well 10 to determine H concentrations and, based on the testing results, selecting the best available method of treatment. If you have any questions, please call either Ted Harriger or me. I:3 \9007522 \30003 DATE: November 5, 1990 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting, November 8, 1990 ITEM: 12B. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Engineering Science, Inc. for the development of water well # 10. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Jim Nuse STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Well number 10 is located along Gattis School Road near its intersection with CR 169. This well was drilled in anticipation of growth in the area. Now that the golf course is on line, the Franklin Tract is progressing and we have an interconnection agreement with Manville Water Supply Corporation, staff recommends beginning the development phase of the well. Mr. Ted Harringer of Engineering Science was in charge of the well when it was drilled and knows its characteristics extremely well. Staff requests authorization for $ 17,500 for this work. The preliminary work, as defined on Table 1, will be authorized immediately. The design phase will be authorized at a later date.
