J53.5•/ WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it would be desirable for a study to be performed regarding the flood zone pertaining to Lake Creek, and WHEREAS, the Army Corps of Engineers has submitted a contract to aid and assist in the said study, and WHEREAS, the Council desires to enter into said contract with the Army Corps of Engineers, Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City a contract with the Army Corps of Engineers for aid and assistance in the study of the flood zone for Lake Creek, a copy of said contract being attached hereto and incorporated herein for all purposes. The t City Council supports the change from the General Investigations i Program to the Continuing Authorities Program. o Although the city has not yet committed to expending any funds for this project, the City is aware that the Detailed Project 1 Report phase of the study will be cost - shared equally between the k City of Round Rock and the Corps of Engineers. Consider a resolution authorizing the Corps of Engineers to proceed with Lake Creek flood study. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Jim Nuse STAFF RECOMMENDATION: In October, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers made a presentation to the City Council regarding the Lake Creek Flood Control Project. The next phase of the project is a study. The cost of this study is $ 150,000. The Corps of Engineers will provide $ 75,000, a $ 37,500 grant with the State of Texas Development Board has been applied for, and Round Rock will be liable for $ 37,500 in cash and /or in -kind services. In order to keep progressing, the enclosed letter of interest to the Corps is necessary. Staff recommends that the Mayor be authorized to sign this letter.
