DATE: February 26, 1991 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting, February 28, 1991 ITEM: 9E. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement for the 1990 -91 Police Communications System Expansion. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Wes Wolff STAFF RECOMMENDATION: On February 7, 1991 we opened bids for an expansion of our Radio System. We received bids from two companies, MOTOROLA and ORBACOM Systems. We reviewed both bids and determined thaat they both met the specifications we outlined. We are recommending that ORBACOM Systems be awarded the bid due to the lower cost and better warranty they offer. ORBACOM Systems is a communication corporation based out of New Jersey. Their local representative is Radio Communications Engineering out of Austin. The Turnkey System costs bid by ORBACOM Systems is $7,715.00 which is approximately $4,000 under budget. The Motorola bid was for $12,870.00.
