SUBJECT: City Council Meeting, March 28, 1991
ITEM:
9.D. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter
into an agreement with Williamson County for electronic
vote counting.
STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joanne Land
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
The attached resolution will authorize the Mayor to sign an
intergovernmental agreement with Williamson County for the county to
provide electronic vote counting in the May 4th election. This action will
help streamline the vote counting process and alleviate concerns about
human error in counting votes on election day.
Since 2 counting teams will not be needed at the polls on election
day, the City will save about $400 in personnel costs. Though other
reimbursable costs will be incurred by the county, staff feels the costs
will be approximately the same as the personnel costs saved making our
election projections right on target.
Due to a death in her family, Dorothy Jones has been unable to provide
the necessaary intergovernmental agreement for electronic vote counting.
Staff is hoping to have the document in hand by Wednesday afternoon or
Thursday morning.
