Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for the purpose of extending the Traffic Light Synchronization project. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joe Vining STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval Because of personnel constraints and unforeseen problems, the Texas Department of Transportation is now requesting a time extension for the Traffic Light Synchronization Grant Project. It will not be possible for the Highway Department to complete this project by September 26, 1991, as originally specified. Instead the proposed amendment stipulates a new completion date of February 11, 1992. The extension is requested until February 11, 1992 due to the following reasons: 1. Due to the lack of personnel, an individual Engineer is working on all six active TLS I projects. 2. Problems were encountered with the computer in optimizing the traffic signals for one of the large TLS I projects. Therefore, valuable time was lost from the Taylor project. 3. Time had to be devoted to the upcoming TLS II program. Because of these and other factors, it will not be possible to complete the project by the September 26, 1991 deadline. Each copy of the amendment is to be signed by the city and returned to our office for the final execution. Also, find enclosed a copy of the authorizing resolution for the city to enter into the Traffic Light Synchronization program. Your assistance in processing the amendment will be very much appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Imelda Barrett at (512) 832 -4514.
