R-91-1658 - 9/26/1991WHEREAS, a recent Supreme Court of Texas decision states that official notices may be posted on official bulletin boards located outside of City Hall, and WHEREAS, the bulletin board located outside the west entrance to City Hall meets all requirements of the Supreme Court decision, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS That the bulletin board located outside the west entrance to City Hall is hereby declared to be the official bulletin board for the posting of all official notices and the City Secretary is directed to post all official notices thereon so that said notices are accessible to the public in accordance with the Open Meetings Act, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That all resolutions in conflict herewith are repealed. Consider a resolution designating the official posting place for all public notices. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joanne Land STAFF RECOMMENDATION: A recent Supreme Court of Texas decision rules that a City may post official notices on official bulletin boards located outside of City Hall. This is currently being followed plus additional postings on the west window of the Council Chamber. This resolution officially names the outside west bulletin board as the official posting location in accordance with state law. Notices will not need to be placed on the west window if Council approves the resolution. Staff recommends approval.
