R-94-03-10-9I - 3/10/1994WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock Environmental Task Force has recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution establishing a waste reduction policy for the City, and WHEREAS, the Council desires to accept the recommendation of the Environmental Task Force, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That it is the policy of this Council and the City of Round Rock to improve, protect, and preserve the environment and public health and safety through efficient, cost effective methods of waste collection and disposal while complying with Federal, state, and local regulations, and the Council will seek to accomplish these goals through cooperation with surrounding governmental and private entities to develop a comprehensive waste management program including source reduction and the reuse and recycling of waste materials. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Jim Nuse STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The Environmental Advisory Board suggests the following language as the policy for waste reduction in Round Rock: The waste reduction policy for the City of Round Rock is to improve, protect, and preserve the environment and human health through efficient, cost effective methods of waste collection and disposal while complying with Federal, State, and Local requirements. To accomplish these goals, the City of Round Rock should cooperate with surrounding entities to develop a comprehensive waste management program including source reduction, and the reuse and recycling of waste materials.
