ATTEST: RS \RESOLUTION RS06094A 2o3. rA.srwei E LAND, City Secretary RESOLUTION NO. 914' 62 -O/- '7 A , Ma Q: PEO-TE/t7 City of Round Rock, Texas JUN- 7- 9 4 ' T U E 6:41 ROUND ROCK 8 NSWERING , S E R P . 0 1 A REQUEST TO ROUND ROCK CITY COUNCIL FOR A PARADE PERMIT FOR MARCH FOR JESUS Dear City Council Members, We respectfully submit the following request to the Round Rock City Council for a parade permit on Saturday, June 25th, 1994 from 10 - 11 a.m. to conduct a March For Jesus in our city on North Mays. March For Jesus is an international event that will join cities in nations all over the world for the common purpose all Christians of all denominations will agree upon - -Jesus is worthy to be praised and the church needs to come out from behind its walls and bless its city, its people, and its leaders. We will be joining not only Austin, Taylor, and Bastrop on this day, but we will be joining cities all over the world (beginning at the International Date Line) in a massive prayer meeting. This is an event that is sponsored by the Round Rock Ministers Fellowship and at least 23 Round Rock Churches who have indicated that they would be supporting the march and have been involved in the planning of it. The Pastors Steering Committee for March For Jesus in Round Rock would like to submit the following proposal that has been approved by Fire Chief Bizzel and Police Chief Wolfe for a parade down North Mays from Texas Avenue to the Texas Baptist Children's Home at the intersection of Highway 79 on Saturday morning, June 25th, 1994. The marchers will begin to gather East of North Mays and Texas Avenue at 9 a.m. in preparation for the parade. At 10:00 a.m. the parade will begin requiring the blocking of the two easts[de lanes of North Mays. The Police Department propose to place their vehicles in the center lane as a buffer protection for the marchers from two way traffic on the two westside lanes of North Mays. We calculate that it would require between 30 -45 minutes to move an estimated 2000 marchers from the gathering point to a prayer rally at the Texas Baptist Children's Home. There we plan to join the various churches and denominations in singing, prayer and a special offering for the Round Rock Serving Center. we plan for it to conclude around noon, J UN - T- 9 4 . T U E G:42 ROUND ROCK ANSWERING ,S E R P- We would also like to take this time to invite Mayor Charles Culpepper and the Round Rock City Council Members to join the area pastors on the stage to participate in this historic event. We would like to publicly affirm our prayers for you and recognize the need for all of the people of Round Rock to work together by God's power to address the needs of our growing city. We would like to bless you. Thank you for your consideration of this proposal .
