RESOLVED this 23rd day of June, 1994. ATTEST: E KS /RESOLUTION RS06234D LAND, City Secretary CHARLES CULPFjPPMayor City of Round Rock, Texas DATE: June 21, 1994 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting, June 23, 1994 ITEM: 9.D. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement for Microcomputer Servers for the Police Department and Municipal Court. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Wes Wolff STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The Police Department and Municipal Court have been maintaining their computerized records on a single system for the past four years. This system is currently operating in excess of 90% data storage capacity of the machine. In fact some users have been removed to make room for expansion of other critical areas. It was determined that the most cost effective means of meeting the data processing needs of these two departments was to add two microcomputer servers and create a three machine network. One server will be placed at Municipal Court, this should meet the data processing needs for the next five years. Physically locating this system at Municipal Court will also eliminate communication errors occurring due to their distance from the Police Department. The second server will be located at the Police Department. Its primary function will be to support the Dispatch and Patrol data processing needs. Currently, due to the severe demands on the existing system, the process speed has been effected to the point of interfering with operational efficiency. This server is also intended to meet the Dispatch and Patrol needs for five years. Two bids were received for Microcomputer Servers for Police and Municipal Court: SabreData $19,881.16 CompUSA $24,230.00 Staff recommends awarding SabreData the bid for the Microcomputer Servers for Police and Municipal Court.
