X E LAND, City Secretary CHARLES CU P ' ER, Mayor City of Round Ro k, Texas 'Community 'Light the Water Tower' P roject Rapeotlblly Submitted by Linda S. Glebelhaw 244-0004 Downtown Business Anooiatlon Phase I : Completed by 11/30/94 - Flood Lights on timer around front half of water tower. Need 5 lights /fixtures/bulbs. (bid by Texas Light Bulb = $2,027). Also a timer vs. ($2,700) photo cell (more reliable) = $200). Two weeks from date of order, two days to install. ($2,300 - $2,700 depending on electrical work & connections to be done) Phase II: Completed by 12/20/94 - Red Christmas lights. Install 200' strand of red lights around rail of walkway. One or ($ 295) two rows should fit. Already have string of lights (same quality as ones used on downtown buildings). Need to pay for them - cost approx. $295. Phase III: Completed by 6/30/95 - Personalized bricks/landscaping under tower. One of our fundraisers will be to sell bricks with names engraved on them for $50.00 each. These will ($1,500) be installed along with a landscaped area under the tower, and would match and compliment the existing downtown area decor/brick pavers. Phase IV: Completed by 11/30/95 - Historic booklet on the Water Tower - Round Rock's Second Famous Landmark. Gather information over the next 11 -12 months on the ($ 750) water tower. Compile and publish it in a booklet to be available by November 30, 1995 (for Christmas next year) Phase V: Repaint the outside of the tower by 12/95 - run contest for • creative name/design in the community. Consider a resolution approving 'lighting the downtown water tower" project. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joanne Land RECOMMENDATION: This is the item presented by Linda K. Giebelhaus at the last meeting. Due to legal constraints the City cannot actually donate money to the project. Therefore, staff is recommending that the Council approve spending up to $3,000 on actually purchasing the lights.
