R 95 04 13 - 11B WHEREAS, the goals of Sister City affiliations are to learn more about each other and to develop lasting and meaningful exchanges of ideas, cultures and people, and WHEREAS, the idea of another Sister City affiliation for Round Rock appeals to people outside of our city, i.e. Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and WHEREAS, Guadalupe is located just outside of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and WHEREAS, Guadalupe would like to become a Sister City for Round Rock, Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to execute any and all documents, and take all steps necessary to establish a Sister City affiliation with Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Consider a resolution approving a Sister City affiliation with Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joanne Land STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The attached resolution will officially declare Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Round Rock's sister city. The Mayor and Council of Guadalupe have acted on a similar resolution. Mayor Elizondo and 4 Councilmembers visited with Mayor Culpepper, Mayor Pro -tem Stluka and Councilwoman Chavez for about 2 hours a month ago to discuss the possibility of this action. With the approval of this Council resolution, an official signed, framed, original will be hand carried to Guadalupe the first week in May so our relationship can formally begin.
