Appraisal District has requested that the City Council recommend
nominees for the 1996 - 97 Appraisal Review Board, and
WHEREAS, of the current members of the Appraisal Review
Board whose term ends this year, one is from Round Rock, and

For your information and to help expedite the appraisal district boards election/appointment
process I am presenting the following summary:
Williamson County Appraisal District (WCAD)
The WCAD is responsible for appraising property in the county at its market value (or productivity
value in some cases). All property is to appraised uniformly and at 100% of the value. The
WCAD is also responsible for administering tax exemptions as required by law and adopted by the
taxing entities. The appraised property values as set by the WCAD are used by the taxing entities
in setting tax rates for their jurisdictions.
Appraisal Review Board (ARB)
The ARB, a 7- member board, is an independent quasi-judicial body responsible for hearing and
ruling upon taxpayer property valuation protests. The ARB is appointed by the WCAD Board of
Directors from nominations submitted by the taxing entities. ARB members are paid ($37.50 per
half day), meet daily from April through July, serve staggered 2 -year terms and cannot serve more
than 3 terms.

The Board of Directors for Williamson County Appraisal District is looldng for nominees for
the 1996 -1997 terms on the Appraisal Review Board. The recommendations that many of
you made in prior years have been very helpful in making our selection and we are once
again asking for your recommendations.
The Board is going to continue to appoint members from each of the geographic areas. The
current Appraisal Review Board has two (2) members from Round Rock, two (2) from
Leander, one (1) from Taylor, one (1) from Georgetown and one (1) from Liberty Hill. The
four (4) members whose terms end this year are one (1) from Round Rock, one (1) from
Taylor and two (2) from Leander.
Recommendations need to be given to the Board before November 1st so that the interviews
can be scheduled.

The Board of directors for the Williamson County Appraisal District is looking for nominees for
the 1996 -97 terms on the Appraisal Review Board. Four positions are up for
nomination /appointment.
The Appraisal Review Board ( ARB ) for the Williamson County Appraisal District hears, reviews
and rules on taxable property value protests. The attached memo provides a brief description
of the responsibilities of the ARB.
Recommendations are to be provided to the WCAD Board of Directors by November 1, 1995.
The WCAD Board of Directors will then appoint the ARB members from each of the geographic
areas represented by the current appointments.
