Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract for the construction of the Deepwood Aquatic Center. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Sharon Prete STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval Three bids were received and opened on October 19, 1995. Attached is the bid tabulation. Staff recommends that the bid be awarded to Flynn Construction, Inc. in the amount of $947,000. Please note that all components of the pool project have been bid and in each case the bids exceeded the projections. The above bid addresses only the pool construction. It does not include water features such as a slide, "squirts" and bulkhead. Without water features, the pool will have limited appeal and this will substantially decrease the opportunities to generate revenues to help off -set 0 & M costs. Our goal was to provide a pool that would address the competitive needs of the school and swim teams as well as address the recreational needs of the community. In order to complete the project as planned an additional $200,000 will be required. Staff proposes to use fund balance and will bring the necessary budget changes to Council at a later date, if Council concurs.
