WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to Order a City Election for the 3rd of May,
1997; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to encourage all registered voters in the City to
vote in city elections; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that C.D. Fulkes Middle School, Round Rock
High School and Brushy Creek Elementary would be easily accessible to voters in the City
of Round Rock on election day; and
WHEREAS, it has been further determined that early voting places will be Round
Rock City Hall, RRISD Administration Building, Westwood High School, Mobile East
Location (Renaissance Square) and Mobile West Location (Wal -Mart - Research Blvd.);
Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS
That the Council hereby orders an election on May 3, 1997 in accordance with the
attached Order of Election; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
That C.D. Fulkes Middle School, Round Rock High School and Brushy Creek
Elementary are hereby designated as the official election day polling places and City Hall,
RRISD Administration Building, Westwood High School, Mobile East Location
(Renaissance Square) and Mobile West Location (Wal -Mart Research Blvd.) hereby
designated as the official early voting polling places for the May 3, 1997 City Council
Election. Polling places and voting hours are detailed in the attached Order of Election.

An election is hereby ordered to be held on May 3, 1997 for the purpose of electing Council,
Place 3 and Council, Place 5.

The City Officer Election shall be held at the polling places for the precincts designated on the
attached Exhibit "A ", which is made a part hereof for all intents and purposes. The polls at the
designated polling places shall on said election day, be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 p.m.
That the presiding judge and alternate presiding judge for each of said polling places are
designated on the attached Exhibit "A ", and each of said presiding judges and alternate
presiding judges are hereby appointed the respective presiding judge and alternate presiding
judge for each of said polling places for this election. Each of said respective presiding judges
is hereby authorized to appoint the necessary election clerks (not less than 2 and not more than
6) to assist in conducting said election.
Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted at the following locations:

INFORMATION ON PROPERTY.TAX BENEFITS
RENDITIONS
All property owners have the 'right to render their property to the Appraisal District. A rendition is a written document
stating the name and address of the owner, the legal description of the property and may contain an estimate of the value.
` It must be submitted to the District between January 1 and April 14.
HOMESTEAD EXEMPTIONS
The Texas Legislature and many local government entities have allowed for part of the value of a homestead to be exempted
from taxation. If you have a homestead exemption there is no need to re-file. However, if you have purchased a different
. home since January 1,1996 you will need to file for this exemption. If you have questions or need an application you should
contact the Property Records Department at the address or number listed above.
OVER -65 AND DISABLED HOMEOWNERS
t If you are a disabled homeowner or are 65 years of age or older as of January 1, 1997 - you are entitled to receive from all
• school districts an additional $10,000 reduction in value on your primary residence. In addition, over -65 homeowners may
have the amount of school tax frozen the year after they are 65. A taxpayer is not eligible for both the over -65 and a disability
• exemption. If you qualify for both, the over -65 exemption will reduce your taxes more than the disability exemption. Filing
deadline for exemptions is April 30th Please direct questions to the Property Records Department at the address or number

TAX DEFERRAL •
If you are over 65 years of age and are unable to pay your property taxes on your homestead you may be able to defer
payment. For additional information contact the Property Records Department at the address or number stated above.
FARM AND RANCH PRODUCTIVITY APPRAISAL • ,
Land owners who are utilizing their land principally for agricultural use to the degree of intensity generally accepted m the
• area and that has been devoted principally to agricultural use for five of the preceding seven years, may be entitled to
receive a special appraisal on their land, which is based on agricultural production. Filing deadline for submitting applica-
tions is April 30th. Applications are available at the appraisal district. For additional information contact the Agricultural
• Department at the address or number stated above.
SPECIAL EXEMPTIONS
;•/ Churches or organizations that owned property on January 1st, of the curreht year may be able to receive a tax exemption.
However, requirements vary for different types of organizations as set out in the Texas Constitution and Property Tax Code. I

PROTESTS
A property owner will recei a yaluation notice for 1997. These notices will be mailed this Spring. If after receiving the
appraisal notice, the property owner•is dissatisfied with the proposed value set by the appraisal district, the owner may
,appeal to the Appraisal Review Board. A written protest must be filed by June 2 or within 30 days of the notice, whichever
is later. r
FREEPORT EXEMPTION .
All business inventory which is held in the state of Texas for no more than 175 days may qualify for this exempt status with
some taxing jurisdictions. If you own a business and feel you may qualify for this exemption contact the district's Personal
