ACCOUNT BALANCE $ 1,900 DATE: March 25, 1997 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting - March 27,1997 ITEM: 11.C. Consider a resolution approving the 1997 Child Safety Fine Budget. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Buster Kuhlmann STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The Legislature enacted a statute which designates all revenues that are received from school zone offenses be placed in a special account. These revenues are to go directly for school zone improvements. The account has a current balance of $10,900. In order to spend the money, the attached budget was developed. q Staff proposes $5,000 be allocated to replacing two (2) current school zoneAwith two (2) flashing school zone signs. It is our goal to over the next few years replace all existing non - flashing signs with flashing signs. A priority list will be developed along with the Round Rock Independent School District input. Also, staff recommends a $4,000 contingency fund for routine replacement and /or repair of existing school zone improvements. Staff recommends approval of the proposed expenditures of $9,000 leaving a balance in the fund of $1,900.
