RESOLVED this llth day of September, 1997. ATTEST: HARLES CU PER, Mayor City of Round Rock, Texas DATE: September 5,1997 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting - September 11, 1997 ITEM: 10.E. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to submit an application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for Texas Recreation and Parks Account Grant Program. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Sharon Prete STAFF RECOMMENDATION: APPROVAL This will be the third time that staff has submitted the grant application to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The grant requests matching funds for facility construction in Old Settlers Park at Palm Valley. Facilities include: football field, tennis courts, pavilion, trail, picnicking facilities, and soccer complex improvements. Since G. O. Bond funds will not be available until next spring, re- application will not slow our process. The re- submitted application will automatically gain 10 pts. because our number one priority (recreation center) has been funded and moved off the priority list; raising the football field to the number one priority. Had we had the 10 pts. this cycle our project would have been funded. ECONOMIC IMPACT: The grant, if awarded, will add $500,000.00 to the Old Settlers Park at Palm Valley development fund.
