Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Change Order No. 1 to Chasco Contracting for the Vehicle Maintenance Facility and Public Works Yard Site. STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Jim Nuse STAFF RECOMMENDATION: MEMORANDUM DATE: January 29, 1998 TO: Jim Nuse, Director of Public Works FROM: Larry Madsen, Construction Manager Chasco Contracting has cut the parking lot and installed base for the new public works yardsite. In doing so ground water has surfaced and caused problems in preparing the base. The amount of ground water encountered will effect the integrity of our base and cause problems in asphalting the parking lot. Heavy equipment will travel these areas. Danny Halden has designed a french drain system that we feel will solve the ground water problem. The cost is $8,332.00. We have deleted an original pipe and inlet at another area of the project which is a $1,200.00 deduction. The total net change for this change order is an addition of $7,132.00. We recommend approval of this item. vmchng
