Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to submit a grant application to the U. S. Department of Justice for manpower and equipment to facilitate the redeployment of police officers to Connnunity Policing. Staff Resource Person: Buster Kuhlmann, Police Chief. The attached resolution authorizes the Mayor to sign a grant application to fund the redeployment program for one year. This grant will enable the City of Round Rock to redeploy current manpower to augment the community policing program designed to form a partnership between the community and the police to reduce crime and the fear of crime. The redeployment will be accomplished through the hiring of a Special Operations Analyst to perform complex analytical functions for investigative purposes which are currently done by police officers.
