R- 98- 09- 10 -10B1 WHEREAS, the proposed 501(c) (3) non- profit Round Rock Historic Society shall operate as an entity wholly separate from the City of Round Rock, and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Round Rock Historic Society shall be to provide support and assistance to the community in matters relating to the historic preservation, restoration and cultural heritage activities occurring within the City of Round Rock, more specifically as follows: 1. To host and conduct an annual historic homes tour to increase public awareness of historic preservation in Round Rock. 2. To encourage the preservation, restoration, research, appreciation, care and use of Round Rock's physical and cultural heritage. 3. To demonstrate the importance of Round Rock's heritage to local citizens. 4. To advise in the preservation, restoration and maintenance of historic landmarks, sites, objects, artifacts, documents, relics and other similar items located within the confines of the City of Round Rock. 5. To acquire, restore, maintain and operate historic properties, where possible, for the purpose of preserving endangered properties and educating citizens and visitors about Round Rock's unique position in history. WHEREAS, the creation of the Round Rock Historic Society will enable the solicitation of funds from the private, public and non- %: \WPDOCS \RESOLUTI \A0091OB1. WPD /9cg profit sectors and, thus, will be a significant supplement to current City funded historic activities, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the City Council supports the creation of the Round Rock Historic Society to provide a forum for all Round Rock citizens to learn about and become involved with activities promoting Round Rock's rich supply of historic resources and important heritage. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended, and the Act.
