R- 99- 09- 23 -10D3 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for the purchase of library furnishings for the Library, and WHEREAS, Highsmith, Inc. has submitted the lowest and best bid, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of Highsmith, Inc., Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the bid of Highsmith, Inc. is hereby accepted as the lowest and best bid and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order to Highsmith, Inc. for the purchase of library furnishings for the Library. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended, and the Act. Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order for the purchase of library furnishings from Highsmith. The library is concluding its major purchasing for library fumishings. This is one of several resolutions offered tonight. The bids were awarded by line item, resulting in various vendors. Funds are provided through 1996 authorized bond funds. The amount of this bid is $31,152.00. Staff resource person: Dale Ricklefs, Library Director. The library is recommending the following purchases from Highsmith. In item 10, School Specialty did not meet the specification of 5 ply tops. In item 11, the Cultural Surrounding podium did not meet the specification of removable top. In the rest of the cases the items were the lowest bid offered and meet specifications. Highsmith represented Texwood of Taylor for item 10 and 11. Items 20, 30, 31, and 40 have been removed. The bidders incorrectly bid items 20 and 30. The staff feels they no longer need 31.
