The Round Rock Public Library intends to make application for a TIF Program B grant, which the
library will call "Enhancement of Computer Skills for the Public" grant. The Round Rock Public
Library meets the qualification guidelines stated in the Request for Proposal in that we have:
T -I interconnectivity for the general public
• We already have our catalog accessible through the web
• We are able to provide the 10% cash match
•:• We are obviously able to assume ongoing telecommunication costs (this grant will not
increase our costs unless we decide to put in a second T -1 line and pull away from the
city-based line)
We have been a previous grant recipient (LB 1) and understand how the grant management process
works. We have non - profit groups (Senior Net and the Literacy Council of Williamson County)
and others in the city organization interested in setting up a learning lab, which may also
incorporate, distance education options.
Our library completed TIFTech Training in 1998/1999. My library does not intend.to participate in
future TIFTech Training unless the training addresses distance education.

ITEM:
13.C.1. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a letter of
intent to apply for a Telecommunication Infrastructure Board

approximate the number of applications it will receive. The letter of
intent must be postmarked by December 10, 1999. Staff Resource
Person: Dale Ricklefs, Library Director.
