3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 30, SECTION 30-3, CODE OF
4 ORDINANCES (2010 EDITION), CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
5 REGARDING SIGNS EXEMPT FROM THE REGULATIONS; AND
6 PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING
7 CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS.

9 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
10 TEXAS:
11 I.
12 That Chapter 30, Section 30-3, Code of Ordinances (2010 Edition), City of Round
13 Rock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
14 Sec. 30-3. Signs exempt from the regulations.

16 The following signs shall be exempt from regulation under this chapter:

18 (1) Political campaign signs on private property.
19 (2) Any public purpose/safety sign, including regulatory signs, and any other notice or warning
20 required by federal, state or local law, regulation or resolution.
21 (3) Works of art, including murals, which do not include a commercial message.
22 (4) Holiday decorations containing no commercial message, and displayed only during the
23 appropriate time of the year.
24 (5) Flags.
25 (6) Historic-age signs.
26 (7) Building markers.
27 (8) Incidental signs.
28 (9) Information signs.
29 (10) Building addresses, except as required on freestanding signs.
30 (11) Barber poles.
31 (12) Signs placed on a fence on property owned or leased by a public or private educational institution
32 with students in grades K through 12.

37 A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are
38 expressly repealed.

I B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not
2 invalidate other sections or provisions thereof.
3 C. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date,
4 hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Ordinance was adopted was posted
5 and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during
6 which this Ordinance and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and
7 formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas
s Government Code, as amended.

10 By motion duly made, seconded and passed with an affirmative vote of all the
I 1 Council members present, the requirement for reading this ordinance on two separate
12 days was dispensed with.
