Text of Legislative File CM -2015-742
The Oncor Pole Attachment Permit Application is a step in a process that will allow us
to attach fiber infrastructure to existing Oncor utility poles throughout the City. It is
related to the Oncor Distribution Pole License Agreement dated October 29, 2013
previously signed by the City Manager on November 18th, 2013. A copy of this
agreement signed by both parties is attached for reference purposes. Oncor requires
that this permit application be submitted for every contiguous fiber run installed by the
City. This permit application covers a new path to the Rabb House. The permit
application triggers a pre -inspection and post -inspection of every pole that the City
plans on attaching fiber to and will be conducted by an independent third party. Fees
for the inspections are charged per permit application and per pole and do not include
any make-ready or repairs that will be required to be completed before we can
proceed with the pole attachments. These make-ready and repair costs are expected
to minimal.
The total number of poles that the City is requesting to attach to is six. The estimated
inspection fees are $390.00 which will be funded out of the IT budget.
Once the post -inspection takes place and the permits are approved we will enter into
a yearly lease agreement with Oncor the details of which are outlined in the Oncor
Distribution Pole License Agreement referenced above. This lease cost is currently
$27.89 per pole which will be invoiced once per year.
