ITEM: Action authorizing the City Manager to execute Change Order # 2
with Manley Contracting for Dell East Campus Channel Repair.

Justification:
The original contract with Manley Contracting was approved by the City Council in December
of 2006 for $166,385.00. Change Order # 1 increased the total amount of the contract to
$190,564.50. Due to unforeseen circumstances in the weather and channel conditions,
Change Order # 2 is requesting a time extension of the construction contract with Manley
Contracting and an increase of $619.50 for additional gravel subgrade material.
Funding:

Background Information:
Upon excavation of the deteriorated concrete channel lining, the sub -grade was found to be
extremely poor and groundwater seepage has created constructability issues. Change
Order #1 provided additional measures to stabilize the channel bottom, to control ground
water, and to increase the structural capacity of the new channel lining and modified the
spillway area of the abutting Dell pond that discharges at the end of the channel. Change
Order #2 extends the completion date of the contract and increases the quantity of
additional material to stabilize the channel bottom. Dell and the City of Round Rock are
funding these channel improvements with each paying fifty percent (50%) of the
construction costs.
