In order to maintain the integrity of the existing waterline on Gattis School Road, the
contractor was required to install a concrete cap approximately 20 linear feet in length.

Background Information:
The City Council approved resolution #07-08-09-8A1 authorizing the contractor to perform
the Gattis School Roadway Improvements. The project will widen the existing 4 -lane
undivided roadway to a 4 -lane divided roadway from Dry Branch Creek Tributary to Dry
Branch Creek. The project also includes widening improvements from Dixie Lane to 385 feet
east of Surrey Drive and improvements at Via Sonoma Trail.

JUSTIFICATION:
1 Per the City of Round Rock direction, install a concrete cap (100If x 6Ifx 2f thick) over the top of the 16 -inch waterline
west of the intersection at Gattis School Road and A.W. Grimes Blvd. The concrete cap will be installed in 20If
section in order to maintain the integrity of the waterline without reducing the pressure.
2 Increase the quantity for the trench safety system to account for all of the waterline installation.
