Environmental Scope (Sub consultant — Horizon Environmental Services, Inc.):
1. Develop a detailed map of site 41WM1304, focusing specifically on mapping the
locations of looter pits on the site, measuring their dimensions, and using this information
to calculate the volume of archeological deposits that have been damaged or destroyed by
looting on the site to date. Horizon's mapping crew will traverse the site in closely
spaced, parallel, linear, transects spaced approximately 10 meters apart, temporarily flag
the locations of looter pits, and determine the locations of looter pits using a global
positioning system (GPS) device with sub -meter or sub -foot accuracy. Horizon will
measure the dimensions (length, width, and depth) of looter pits and calculate the volume
of displaced archeological deposits. All temporary flagging will be removed from the site
after GPS locations of the marked looter pits are determined.
2. Develop a global information system (GIS) data layer and map showing the site
boundaries, pertinent landscape features, and looter pits.
3. Revise the draft report for the cultural resources survey for the segment of the Brushy
Creek Regional Trail Gap hike -and -bike trail during which site 41 WM1304 was
discovered with the revised site map, a discussion of the methods and results of the
supplemental site mapping activities, and a table summarizing the size of looter pits and
volume of excavated sediments recorded during the mapping project.
4. Provide the City of Round Rock with a copy of the 41WMI304 GIS shape files to be
used as a baseline for the City's and THC's ongoing preservation efforts on the site.
