ADDENDUM TO EXHIBIT B
Engineering Services
The changes to the scope of this project are as follows:
Reason for Chane
When the scope of services for the Segment 2c Transmission Line was developed, it was K
Friese & Associates, Inc.'s (KFA's) understanding that the flow control valve vault would be a
standard design developed by the Segment 1 Design Engineer. Since this was to be a standard
detail, KFA's scope did not include the structural engineering necessary to design the vault.
Both projects are now at the 90% design stage or greater and it is apparent that a standard design
for all flow control valve vaults is not appropriate. Each station is unique with different types of
flow control valves being used (a motor operated ball valve for Segment 1 and a hydraulic
diaphragm operated valve for Segment 2c), different size piping, and different valving
arrangements. These mechanical differences result in different size vaults which require
different structural designs.
Scope of Services
1. Analyze and design the below -grade concrete valve vault. Walls will be designed as
cast -in-place concrete to resist external lateral earth and hydrostatic pressure and
appropriate surcharge loading. The top slab will be designed to support an H2O wheel
load.
2. Analyze and design a grade supported equipment pad.
3. Prepare structural drawings, including plan, section, details and schedules necessary for
construction of the concrete valve vault and equipment pad.
4. Prepare construction specifications, in the form of notes on the drawings, for concrete
valve vault and equipment pad. Design assumptions and material properties will be
documented on the drawings. The City of Austin Standard Specifications will be
referenced.
5. Respond to questions from Contractors during the bid phase.
