Proposed AECOM Scope of Work (SOW) - City of Round Rock - Proposed Dam 101
Geophysical Survey to Investigate Foundation of Proposed Dam 101
Amendment 1
November 24, 2015
This amendment is for supplemental services for the geophysical investigation of Dam 101,
per the contract executed 2015-08-13.
The following is a summary of the basis for the additional funding request for work already
performed.
Property Owner request for new Indemnity Agreement, require funds for:
- Internal/Client coordination;
- Delayed work from Aug/Sep to Oct/Nov
- Development and approval of ingress/egress maps
- New certificates of insurance
- Coordination with subs for same/approvals
2. Original driller decision to not work under the above indemnity agreement.
- required search for new driller(s) that would sign;
3. Property Owner Relations/Access Requirements
- Requires task -specific, week by week requests, permissions, and scheduling
system.
- Additional meetings/conference calls with clients, field teams, subs
- Focus on avoidance of ruts, trees, vegetation/land disturbance
- Rainy weather increases monitoring/scheduling requirements
4. Site Conditions
- Delays in approval for an alternative access to work areas
- heavy brush limit work completion
- hunting season limits work to 3:00 pm
- rains left site conditions wet; slowing progress; requiring additional equipment to
prevent land damage.
- rain outs / partial rain outs - inefficiencies in work teams; additional per diem for
geophysical staff
B-1
Description of Remaining Work to Complete Geophysical Scope.
The following is a description of additional work remaining associated with the geophysical
tasks. Refer to the attached figure.
Site conditions and weather delays prevented completion of originally planned geophysical
lines. It is proposed to perform the following field work to complete the field portion of the
geophysical investigation.
Task 1.
• Layout and flag Lines 0 and 1
Task 2
• Clear Lines 0 and 1
• Perform ERI Testing of Line 0
• Perform preliminary processing of data for Line 0;
• Obtain preliminary results for Line 0 — identify confirmation borehole location;
Task 3
• Flag line 2, intended to be an offsite line associated with borehole location identified
in Task 2.
• Clear lines 1 and 2
Task 4
• Perform ERI Testing of Lines 1 and 2
• Process Lines 1 and 2
Remaining Field Schedule.
Upon notice to proceed, initiate the above Tasks 1 through 4. This may be able to start
within a week, and can be completed in approximately one week, but is dependent upon
weather conditions (cannot conduct ERI in rain).
Once the borehole location is identified in Task 2 above, planning for drilling activities can
begin. The anticipated remaining schedule is still one week of drilling, but will require field
conditions to be dry and remain dry for the week.

Consider exectuting Supplemental Contract No. 1 with AECOM Technical Services,
Inc. for the Dam 101 Project.
Additional funds are needed for this Project primarily due to the excessive weather
conditions we are experiencing at this time. Additional costs were due to delays
associated with gaining right -of -entry, additional equipment needs and brush clearing
that was not anticipated in the original scope.
This Engineering Services Contract with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is for the
Geophysical Investigation utilizing ERI (electrical resistivity imaging) which provide a
rapid cost-effective means of evaluating the subsurface materials. This effort will allow
for a more focused drilling effort in the future. Because the proposed dam site is
located over the karstic region of the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone, great care must
be taken to determine the appropriate foundation design.
Dam 101 is a joint project between the Upper Brushy Creek WCID and the City to
substantially lessen the frequency and depth of flooding along Lake Creek, particularly
in the Greater Round Rock West area. The District and City signed an ILA that
assigned responsibility for coordinating design, construction, and funding of Dam 101
to the City.
