therma-cel® Seam -Seal
Pipe Insulation
Engineered Polymer Foam Insulation
SYSTEM COMPATIBLE
for VOCs
Made in
America
DESCRIPTION
therma-cel° Seam -Seal is a self- seal-
ing, flexible, polyolefin, thermal insula-
tion and is black in color. It is available
in wall thicknesses of 3/8", 1/2", 3/4"
and 1", in sizes ranging from 3/8" CTS
to 4" IPS.
APPLICATIONS
therma-cel® Seam -Seal is used to
retard heat gain and prevent conden-
sation or frost formation on cold water
plumbing, chilled -water and air condi-
tioning lines. therma-cel® Seam -Seal
also retards heat loss on hot water
plumbing.
therma-cel° Seam -Seal has a low
thermal conductivity and very low
water vapor transmission rate. This
low density product demonstrates
excellent thermal, physical and chemi-
cal resistant properties and has a
broad service temperature range
between -330°F and 210°F (-201°C
and 99°C). It can be installed in com-
mercial, industrial and residential insu-
lation projects. Acceptable for use with
heat tracing/heat tape.
INSTALLATION
therma-cel® Seam -Seal is pre -slit with
factory applied pressure sensitive
adhesive (PSA) to both seam surfaces
and has convenient built-in release
tabs for easy installation: slip on the
tube, pull the tab, and pinch it shut. It
can be easily pushed around P -traps
and fittings, though mitering is recom-
mended for optimum performance. All
butt joints should be sealed with 320
orp20 (black) Contact Adhesivelor
other approved sealing system. t
easily cut with a sharp knife. therma-
cel® Seam -Seal is available in a wide
range of I.D.s and is sized to fit over
copper couplings and fittings. It should
be installed on pipes that have been
pre -tested for leaks, are not pres-
ently hot, and have application tem-
peratures that will not exceed 210°F
(99°C).
OUTDOOR APPLICATIONS
therma-cel® Seam -Seal pipe insulation
is made from UV resistant polyolefin
resins. For severe UV exposure (roof-
top applications) or where optimum
performance is required, the product
must be protected from the elements.
Various jacketing or cladding materials
are recommended, ie. PVC, CPVC,
AL, etc. If coatings are going to be
used, please refer to technical bulletin
for recommended coatings.
UNDERGROUND
For buried lines above the water table,
use a clean fill such as sand (3" - 5"
layer) to protect therma-cel° Seam -
Seal before backfilling. It is recom-
mended to use a minimum 1" wall
thickness and the materials to be bur-
ied are properly sealed at all seams
and butt joints with an approved
contact adhesive. For optimum perfor-
mance, the lines should be encased
in a conduit to protect them from prob-
lems associated with ground water.
Note: All Nomaco Insulation products must always be in-
stalled above the water table.
RESISTANCE TO MOISTURE
VAPOR FLOW
The closed -cell structure and unique
formulation of therma-cel® Seam -
Seal effectively retards the flow of
moisture vapor, and is considered a
low transmittance vapor retarder. For
most indoor applications, therma-cel°
Seam -Seal needs no additional pro-
tection.
Additional vapor barrier protection
may be necessary for therma-cel®
Seam -Seal when installed on low tem-
perature surfaces that are exposed to

620 Contact Adhesives - Black
Made in
America
DESCRIPTION
320 & 620 Contact Adhesives are air -drying
solvent based neoprene contact adhesives
that are excellent for joining seams and
butt joints of elastomeric & polyolefin pipe
and sheet Insulation. 320 & 620 Contact
Adhesives make resilient moisture- and
heat -resistant bonds when used with elas-
tomeric and polyolefin products. 320 & 620
Contact Adhesives' higher solids content
allows them to be brushed or roller applied
easily without running. They are ideal for
bonding porous and non -porous materials,
as they will not be absorbed easily.
Caution: Adhesive contains notable solvents and container not in
use should be kept closed. Keep adhesive away
from sparks and open names. Use with adequate ventilation and
avoid excessive contact with the skin.
USES
320 & 620 Contact Adhesives may be used
for bonding elastomeric and polyolefin
products to a variety of materials (i.e.,
other elastomers, metal, wood, leather, felt,
concrete, etc.). The adhesives will make
resilient and heat -resistant bonds. They are
suitable for line temperatures up to 220°F
(104°C) on applications requiring bonded
seams and joints. When the adhesives
are applied to large flat or curve surfaces,
they are suitable for temperatures up to
200°F (93°C). The products are supplied in
a variety of sizes ranging from pint brush
top containers to gallon containers. Larger
containers are available upon request.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
For proper adhesion, the surfaces to which
the insulation is to be applied must be
thoroughly cleaned, dry, and unheated.
Primed and painted surfaces should be
adhesive tested to be sure the insulation
will not lift off after application. The adhe-
sive should be thoroughly mixed. Brush or
roll a thin even coat of adhesive on both
surfaces to be joined. Allow the adhesive
films to become dry to the touch, but
tacky, before joining the surfaces. Press
the two surfaces together. Be sure the
insulation is in the desired position before
the adhesive surfaces make initial contact,
since the adhesive forms an instant bond,
and repositioning after contact is difficult.
Moderate pressure should then be applied
to the entire bonding area to insure com-
plete contact. Avoid heat, sparks, and
open flames, and use only proper ventila-
tion. Close container after use. 320 & 620
Contact Adhesives should be applied
at above 40°F (4°C) temperatures, and
allowed to dry for 24 hours before equip-
ment operation. Protective coatings can
be applied to applications with bonded
joints and seams, after allowing 24 hours
dry time. Applications such as large tanks,
or vessels where full adhesive coverage is
required, must be allowed to dry 7 days
prior to applying a protective coating.
The surface may be allowed to dry and
solvent reactivated by wiping with a tolu-
ene dampened cloth.
Thinning the adhesive is not recommend-
ed. Common lacquer thinners can be used
for clean up.

SUBJECT: City Manager Approval — October 23, 2009
ITEM: Consider executing Change Order No. 2 with Landmark Structures I, L.P. for the
RM 1431-2MG Elevated Water Storage Tank Improvements Project.
Department:
Staff Person:
Water and Wastewater Utilities
Michael D. Thane, P.E., Director of Utilities
Justification:
Change Order No. 2 includes all the labor, equipment, and materials necessary for installing a
service sink and drain line to handle water from the three tank sample lines. This change order
also includes installing a header for routing sample water to the service sink and isolation valves
over the sink. This new system was developed by the utility engineering staff in order to collect
water samples for chlorine residuals from the top, middle, and lower thirds of the tank bowl.
This design helps monitor the internal mixing of the water flowing through the tank, as well as
helps in evaluating the new inlet/outlet piping configuration and inlet nozzle.
Strategic Plan Relevance:
Goal 27.0 "Ensure there is an adequate, affordable and safe water supply."
With the RM 1431-2.0 MG Elevated Water Storage Tank, the City can more efficiently deliver
potable water from our current Water Treatment Plant. Additionally, our future Brushy Creek
Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) Water Treatment Plant will benefit from this project as well.
In addition to this project, two other projects were required to meet our obligations under an
Interlocal Agreement for Emergency Water Supply between the Cities of Round Rock and Cedar
Park. These projects include the RM 1431 36 -inch Water Line project which is complete and the
7.5 MGD High Service Pump project. Cedar Park has contributed $1,000,000 toward these
projects per said agreement.
