Kay Gayle Item Summary: This item will allow the City to issue a purchase order to Play and Park Structures for engineered wood fiber playground surfacing for the Play for All Abilities Park Project. The engineered wood fiber surfacing will be installed at the retreat pod, swing pod, and Targe playscape pod. In June, the City sent out an Invitation for Bid for playground safety surfacing for the Play for All Abilities Park Project. The City received six (6) proposals for the engineered wood fiber playground surfacing component of the bid. A team of 5 staff members evaluated the proposals and determined that Play and Park Structures provided the best value to the City for the engineered wood fiber playground surfacing. The playground surfacing bids submitted were approximately $8,000 below what was estimated for the project. The City is currently working with Play and Park Structures for the playground equipment at the large playscape pod. Staff recommends approval of the item.
