WHEREAS, the Tapestry has requested that the streets along the
following parade route be closed from 1:00 o'clock p.m. until 1:30
o'clock p.m. on January 17, 2004 for the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr.
Commemorative March: beginning at the 500 block of Round Rock Avenue,
east on Round Rock Avenue through Mays Street to Main Street, east on
Main Street, north on Sheppard Street, and ending at the Robert G. and
Helen Griffith Public Library, and
WHEREAS, the Council wishes to grant such request, Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
That the streets along the parade route be closed as set forth
above.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of
the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this
Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the
public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and
the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted
upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas
Government Code, as amended.

IMPORTANT:
1. Requests should be made at least 30 days in advance of the closing to (a) allow sufficient time for
notifying other city depaxtments and (b) ensure it is placed on a City Council agenda in a timely fashion.
2. The requesting organization assumes the burden of notifying affected businesses and residences of the
pending road closure.
3. Upon completion, this form should be sent to the Patrol Division Commander. The form may be dropped
off at the Police Deparbnent lobby (615 Palm Valley Blvd.) or fared to 21 &6681.

History: This is an annual commemoration celebrating the Martin Luther
King, Jr. holiday. The event is a walking parade and will
conclude at the Round Rock Public Library. Tapestry is an
organization, which annually prepares this event.

Source of Funds: N/A
Impact/Benefit: This is an annual event, and organizers expect between 150
and 200 people to participate. The event will provide the
citizens of Round Rock with an opportunity to publicly
celebrate the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. during the annual holiday.
