The City and School District have collaborated for many years to operate a School Resource Officer program in Round Rock's secondary schools. In 2013, the interlocal agreement that governs the administration o/that program was updated. The agreement requires -- prior to each school year's start-- an annual, documented understanding between the agreement's parties as to which schools will be served by the program and the number of school resource officers that will serve those target schools. This Memorandum of Understanding documents that agreement. During the coming school year, the program would directly serve Round Rock High School, Cedar Ridge High School, Stony Point High School, and the Round Rock Opportunity Center. In addition, the following schools would be served by school resource officers assigned to "Float' among these schools: C . Fulkes Middle School, Hopewell Middle School, Chisholm Trail Middle School, Hernando. Middle School, and Success High School. Success High School opened this school year at 500 Gattis School Rd. The school is designed to help students who have unique class scheduling needs, are interested in accelerated classes, seek a nontraditional work environment or who are in at -risk situations. The Memorandum of Understanding also assigns ten police officers and one police sergeant to serve those schools. Staff recommends approving the Memorandum of Understanding.
