WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has requested that
the following streets be closed on March 20, 2005 from 7:15 o'clock
a.m. to 11:30 o'clock a.m. for the Texas Road Rash Inline Skating
Marathon: Harrell Parkway from Palm Valley Boulevard to Aten Loop; Aten
Loop from Harrell Parkway to T.C. Oates Lane; and all of T.C. Oates
Lane, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to grant said request, Now
Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
That the streets be closed as set forth above.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of
the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this
Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the
public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and
the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted
upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas
Government Code, as amended.

2005 for the annual Texas Road Rash Inline Skating Marathon.

Justification:
Road closures for special events require approval from the City Council. Approving the
resolution will allow the event to occur.

Background Information:
PARD and Hill Country Speed are co -sponsoring the 2nd Annual Texas Road Rash Inline
Marathon and 16K. This is the first inline skate marathon and 1/2 marathon in Central
Texas. Barry Publow, a former National Champion and Canadian speed record holder, is
scheduled to attend the event. The route covers a portion of CR 122, which is outside
the city. PARD is coordinating this event with the Police Department and Williamson
County, and it is obtaining permission from TXDOT to close the designated portion of
Palm Valley Boulevard.
