In past years the Police Department has participated in the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Program which is a grant program offered by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). This program is a unique DOJ initiative designed to provide a critical resource to state and local law enforcement and is administered by the Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance. The program is designed to reimburse eligible law enforcement agencies for 50% of the funds expended on vest replacements. This Police Department will utilized program funds for all scheduled vest replacements during the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The program covers all replacements made after April 1, 2006 but before March 31, 2007. Additional funding may become available in 2007.
