Years ago, the Police Department purchased a child identification kit as part of its community policing program. Such a kit allows the capture of fingerprints, a photo, and various identifying descriptors of children which are then provided to parents in a packet. The intent is to allow parents to quickly provide public safety responders with relevant information about their children in the event they are missing or involved in some other kind of incident. This grant project would replace an existing child identification kit -- computer, printer, camera, and assorted peripherals -- with two updated versions that allow the Police Department to keep pace with the demand for child identification packets at school and other community events. This application is seeking $11,509 and does not require a match. Staff recommends approval. City of Round Rock Page 1 Printed on 612312016
