AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES (1995
EDITION), CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, CHAPTER 1, BY
AMENDING SECTION 1.1002.1(3) DEALING WITH FIREFIGHTER
CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATIONS AND NUMBER OF POSITIONS;
AND PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, Chapter 143, Texas Local Government Code, Section
143.021(a) requires the Round Rock City Council to establish by
ordinance the classifications of all firefighters and prescribe the
number of positions in each classification; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's desire and intention to comply with
the referenced statutory requirement; Now, Therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
TEXAS:
I.
That Chapter 1, Section 1.1002.1(3)(b) Code of Ordinances
(1995 Edition), City of Round Rock, Texas, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
(3) Firefighters Civil Service Classifications and Number of Positions
(b) The following civil service classifications are hereby established, and the following
number of positions in each classification are hereby prescribed:

II.
A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in
conflict herewith are expressly repealed.
B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this
ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions
thereof.
C. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written
notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which
this Ordinance was adopted was posted and that such meeting was
open to the public as required by law at all times during which
this Ordinance and the subject matter hereof were discussed,
considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open
Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended.
Alternative 1.
By motion duly made, seconded and passed with an affirmative
vote of all the Council members present, the requirement for
reading this ordinance on two separate days was dispensed with.

1.1002.1 of the Round Rock Code of Ordinance regarding
firefighter civil service classifications and number of

Justification:
This ordinance will update the prescribed number of positions in each classification
effective with the April release of additional authorized positions.. The FY 2005-2006
Operating Budget approved additional firefighter positions to be added to existing
staffing levels. This ordinance reclassifies the number of authorized sworn positions
in the Round Rock Fire Department.
