AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES (1995
EDITION), CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, CHAPTER 9, SECTION
9.503 AMENDING SCHOOL SPEED ZONES; AND PROVIDING FOR
A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
TEXAS:
I.
That Chapter 9, Section 9.503, Code of Ordinances (1995
Edition), City of Round Rock is deleted in its entirety and is
amended to read as follows:
9.503 SCHOOL ZONES
The City hereby designates school zones on certain streets listed below. A maximum speed limit
is established as shown on the following table on regularly scheduled school days within the zone
when a sign is posted with the hours of operation, or when a sign is posted with a flashing light
giving notice thereof. Those streets and zone boundaries described in the following table are
declared to be school zones for the purpose of this section.

II.
A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in
conflict herewith are expressly repealed.
B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this
ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions
thereof.
C. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written
notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which

this Ordinance was adopted was posted and that such meeting was
open to the public as required by law at all times during which
this Ordinance and the subject matter hereof were discussed,
considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open
Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended.
Alternative 1.
By motion duly made, seconded and passed with an affirmative
vote of all the Council members present, the requirement for
reading this ordinance on two separate days was dispensed with.

History:
Over time, as new schools have been added, new school zone
times have been established for each one, which has resulted in
inconsistent, overlapping school zones, and sometimes
inadequate coverage of school zone times across the City.
