G -O9- o/ -/-8C.2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE 2000 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE CONDITIONS AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL PROPERTY, BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES; AMENDING SECTIONS 3.101 AND 3.102; REPEALING SECTIONS 3.105, 3.109 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: I. That certain documents, one (1) copy of which is on file in the office of the City Secretary for the City of Round Rock, Texas, being marked and designated as International Building Code, including Appendix Chapter D, as published by the International Code Council, are hereby adopted as the code of the City of Round Rock, Texas for the regulation and control of building and structures as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said International Building Code are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this ordinance, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in Section II of this ordinance. ::ODMA\WORLDOX\O:\ WDOX\ORDINANC\020110B2. WPD/cr II. Section 3.101 Code of Ordinances, (1995 Edition)City of Round Rock is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.101 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE (2000 EDITION) ADOPTED. The International Building Code, 2000 Edition, including Appendix D, as published by the International Code Council, one copy of which shall be placed on file in the office of the city secretary of the City of Round Rock, Texas, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Round Rock, Texas. Penalties, conditions and terms of the said International Building Code are hereby adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this ordinance, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, as set forth below. III. Section 3.102 Code of Ordinances, (1995 Edition)City of Round Rock is amended to read as follows: Section 3.102. AMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, (2000 EDITION). (a) Section 101.1: Insert: City of Round Rock, Texas (b) Section 3409.2: Insert: "effective date of this ordinance. " IV. Sections 3.101 and 3.102 of the Code of Ordinances, (1995 Edition) City of Round Rock are hereby amended, and Section 3.105, 3.109 and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. V. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the City of Round Rock, Texas 2 hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance, and each section, subsection, clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses and phrases be declared unconstitutional. VI. The City Secretary is hereby ordered and directed to cause this ordinance to be published for the requisite number of times in the appropriate newspaper of general circulation, and to cause this ordinance to be posted according to applicable requirements. VII. This ordinance and the rules, regulations, provisions, requirements, orders and matters established and adopted hereby shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its final passage and adoption. VIII. A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions thereof. C. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which 3 this Ordinance was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Ordinance and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended. Consider an ordinance adopting the 2000 Edition of the International Building Code. (Second Reading) The Standard Family of Codes that are currently enforced are no longer revised to reflect changes in the current industry standards. The Standard, Uniform and BOCA Building Codes have been consolidated into single family of codes, The International Codes. Resource: Jim Nuse, Public Works Director Mark Remmert, Chief Building Official History: Last year the City Council adopted the International Residential Code for one and two family dwellings. The Ordinance before the Council tonight adopt the family of International Codes. This ordinance repeals the 1994 Edition of the Standard Building Code and Standard Existing Buildings Code and adopts the 2000 Edition of the International Building Code. The Section pertaining to Permit Fees remains unchanged. Obsolete provisions of the Code are repealed.
