G-97-11-25-9E - 11/25/1997ORDINANCE NO. v' 91— 1 t AS- q AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.01.01 OF THE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS CONCERNING CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: I. That Section 9.01.01 of the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual of the City of Round Rock, Texas, dated December 9, 1993, is hereby amended to read as follows: 9.01.01 The following normally are observed as paid holidays for regular non -police, non - firefighting employees who work at least 20 hours per week: New Year's Day President's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following Thanksgiving Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; or, when Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas. II. A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. K:\WPDOCS\ORDINANC\OR71125S. 2WP/sag B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions thereof. C. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Ordinance was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Ordinance and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended, and the Act. By motion duly made, seconded and passed with an affirmative vote of all the Council members present, the requirement for reading this ordinance on two separate days was dispensed with. Consider an ordinance amending the Personnel Policy to designate the day after Christmas Day as a holiday, instead of Christmas Eve, whenever Christmas Day falls on a Thursday. (First Reading) STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Teresa Bledsoe STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City employees be off Thursday, December 25th and Friday, December 26th for the Christmas Holidays. Approving this ordinance will allow employees additional time for travel as appropriate and an extended time frame for spending time with family and friends during the holiday season.
