G-93-02-25-9J - 2/25/1993ORDINANCE NO. g-93 - 9 J, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1, SECTION 1.2500, CODE OF ORDINANCES (1990 EDITION), CITY OF ROUND ROCK TO CHANGE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE AGING FROM SEVEN (7) TO NINE (9); PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, THAT: I. Chapter 1, Section 1.2501, Code of Ordinances, (1990 Edition), City of Round Rock, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows: 1.2501 BOARD CREATED The City Council shall appoint a Board to be known as the Advisory Board for the Aging. The board shall consist of nine (9) members, who reside within the city limits of Round Rock. II. Chapter 1, Section 1.2503, Code of Ordinances, (1990 Edition), City of Round Rock, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows: 1.2503 TERMS OF APPOINTMENT The Board members shall hold office for two years or until their successors are appointed; however, of the first nine (9) appointments, five (5) shall be appointed to serve until May 1, 1993 and four (4) to serve until May 1, 1994. Thereafter, four (4) members shall be appointed during even -numbered years and five (5) members appointed during odd -numbered years. Vacancies shall be filled by the City Council for the remainder of an unexpired term. OR02253J Chapter 1, Section 1.2506, Code of Ordinances, (1990 Edition), City of Round Rock, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows: 1.2506 RULES OF ORDER The Board shall follow Roberts Rules of Order for conducting meetings; and, a quorum of five (5) members must be present in order to conduct the business of the Board. IV. A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. B. DATE: February 23, 1993 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting, February 25, 1993 ITEM: 91 Consider an ordinance amending the Round Rock Advisory Board for the Aging by providing for two additional members. (First Reading) STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joanne Land STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The Advisory Board for the Aging requested the Council increase the number of board members from seven (7) to nine (9). The attached proposed ordinance increases the board to nine members with one member serving a one year term and one serving a two year term. After the initial terms each member will serve two year terms as do all other board members. Staff recommends Council pass the ordinance as proposed. If the ordinance is approved, appointments can be placed on the next Council agenda.
