AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.502(6), CODE OF ORDINANCES,
1990 EDITION, CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS; MAKING CERTAIN
ADDITIONS AND/OR DELETIONS TO SAID SECTION; THEREBY
DECLARING THE MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON
GREENLAWN BOULEVARD WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE
CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, PURSUANT TO AND IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE "UNIFORM ACT REGULATING TRAFFIC
ON HIGHWAYS' (VERNON'S ANN. CIV. STAT. ART. 670ID); AND
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS:
I.
Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation and pursuant to and in
accordance with, the provisions of the "Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on
Highways" (Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes, article 6701d), the City Council
hereby determines and declares that except when a special hazard exists that
requires lower speeds in order to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle or other
conveyance on or entering a street or highways, the limits, specified in this
Ordinance shall be lawful, but any speed in excess of the limits specified in this
Ordinance shall be prima facie evidence that the speed is not reasonable or
prudent, and that it is unlawful.
II.
That Section 9.502(6), Code of Ordinances, 1990 Edition, City of Round Rock,
Texas, (The maximum prima facie speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour
along the following street:) is hereby amended by adding the following:
ON
Greenlawn Boulevard
(southbound)
Greenlawn Boulevard
northbound)
FROM TQ
Gattis School Road Louis Henna Boulevard
Louis Henna Boulevard Stratford Drive
A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict
herewith are expressly repealed.
B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not
invalidate other sections or provisions thereof.
By motion duly made, seconded and passed with an affirmative vote of all
the Council members present, the requirement for reading this ordinance on two
separate days was dispensed with.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval
The attached Ordinance will amend the traffic code by increasing the speed limit
from 30 MPH to 40 MPH for the following portions of Greenlawn Boulevard:
1) Greenlawn Boulevard, southbound, from Gattis School Road to Louis
Henna Boulevard.
2) Greenlawn Boulevard, northbound, from Louis Henna Boulevard to
Stratford Drive.
ECONOMIC IMPACT: Cost of New Signage.
