That all persons:associations:organizations and corporations using or maintaining- any mains and/or pipes and pipe lines for the purpose of distributing natural gas in. any of the streets,highways,easement s,al ley sparks. or other places within. the corporate limits of the City of Round Rock:Texas,shali on the 10th day of January of each and . J very year file with the City Secretary a sworn report Shp;;! i ing the gross receipts from the business conducted by such persons:a-ssoc rations:organizations and corporations within the corporate limits of the said city for the preceding year ending day of preceding the31 t December. Section 2The City Council may ,:.hen it may see fit have the books end records of the person:association: organization:or corporation rendering the statement required - in •Section 1 of this Ordinance examined by a representative o, the c i ly to ascertain whether such statement is accurate: : bt nothing in this Ordinance shall be construed to. prevent the city from ascertaining the facts by any other method. Section 3. That upon •the first day of February of each and every year every- person,association: o{ g anizat_iorr, or corporation occUpying or using the streets; hi ghways: easements,aileys:parks:or other public places in the City of Round Rock:Texas:with mains:pipes or other fixtures shall as a condition to such further occupancy pay to the city L J annually for such privileges a rental equal to two(2S) per cent of the gross receipts received by such person: assooia.tion=organization, or•corp oration from its business conducted in the corporate limits of the City of Round Rock:Texas:for the preceding year (or portion of such preceding year between the effective date of this Ordinance and the following first •day of January) which sums shall be paid to the City of Round Rock:Texas. Section 3A Any charges accruing before the effective date of this Ordinance aider the terms of any pre-existing ordinance:contract or franchise against any such person, association: orgahization or corporation when paid to the. said City,shail be credited on the amount• owed b3T such -person: on J , association, crganizati on or corporation as a charge or rental imposed for the use of the streets,alieys and other public places and ways within said City :and. the Tax Collector of said City is hereby authorized to- give credit to such person, association, organ! nation or corporation when it or they pay the street rental charges in the manner described herein for all sums paid as charges unler the terms of any pre-existing ordina.- contract or franchise. • Section 4.
